Here are a few of my favorite things to eat while I was down under….

Vegemite on toast: It is a brown, salty spread that I think is YUCK but all Aussies love it?!?!
Kangaroo: surprisingly good if you can get past the cute image of the roo in your head! Tastes like flank steak to me.
Aussie BBQ: there is nothing better than a snag off the barbie!

Meat pie with tomato sauce: there are so many yummy pies in OZ, my favorite is a toss up between the Mexican chili pie and the steak and cheese pie.

Aussie Beer: so many good ones to choose from (Coopers, Tooheys, Carlton Draugh, Pure Blond, VB, Cascade).
Tim Tams: A yummy cookie I found to be quite addicting, my favorite is the Sticky Vanilla Toffee
Bacon & Egg rolls: a breakfast favorite…bacon, fried egg, cheese, and BBQ sauce served on a tasty roll.
Milo: a strange chocolate energy powder that is surprisingly good
Lamington cakes: yummy spongy cake covered with chocolate and coconut
Sweet Chili Sauce: goes great with everything! I love on kebabs, french fries, and chicken!
Kebabs: sure they aren’t exactly “Australian” but I have to say that OZ knows how to make a killer kebab! My favorite: mixed meat (chicken/lamb) with garlic sauce, sweet chili sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese…grilled to perfection!
Wagon Wheels: my newest cookie addiction, marshmallow, cherries, and a cookie covered in chocolate!
Zapos: chewy fruit flavored candies
Caramello Koala: chocolate covered caramel candy in the shape of a cute koala bear
Afternoon tea: I love that everyone stops for a tea break in the afternoon. Such a good excuse to take a break from work!

Turkish Bread: Thick, chewy bread that makes for the best sandwiches ever!
Australian Wine: OZ is known for it’s Shiraz wines and Hunter Valley is known for its Semillon grapes.
Anzac Biscuits: crunchy butternut cookies made on Anzac Day
Pavlova Cake: a meringue cake that is crispy on the outside but light and fluffy inside.
Wedges: Large potato wedges best when dipped in sour cream and sweet chili sauce.
