My new kite!

Kitesurfing, New Zealand — By on March 30, 2011 1:42 PM

I bought my first kite at KBA (Kiteboarding Asia) in Thailand at a much cheaper price than I could have bought anywhere else in the world. I bought my board second hand in New Zealand through trademe.co.nz. The seller was a local Kiwi who surprised me by selling me the board for $50 less than the final auction price. Thanks Mitch! And thanks to Todd for hooking me up with new rolling kite bag which will make traveling with all my gear much easier.

My new gear:

2011 Cabrinha Switchblade 12 meter kite

2008 Cabrinha Imperial 133 board

It is great to finally have all my own gear and be able to be on the water at the same time as Thomas. In the past he was kind enough to share his kites with me but this meant we had to take turns. We had our first kiting session together on Waiheke Island and it was so fun to ride past each other on the water!

Between the two of us we now have four kites to choose from depending on the wind speed …  8m, 9m, 12m, and 13m kites. Now we just need to find some good wind!

I love my new kite so much and I have decided I must name HER. Any suggestion???
