Get Your Moon On!

As the moon reaches its monthly climax, it seems that every traveller you meet in Thailand is making the migration to Ko Pha-Ngan and its famous full moon rave party. Due to the timing of this month’s full moon, we were not able to attend; however, we did attend the island’s 1/2 Moon Party on July 10th. My friend Aine from San Francisco met up with us at Ban Tai Beach, just in time for the party! What a fun way for her to start off her 2 week vacation!

The 1/2 Moon party took place in the jungle near Ban Tai Beach. The party didn’t get crowded until after midnight when the neon painted backpackers arrived in herds and began to dance, hypnotised by the DJs turntables. The music was so loud that I could feel it in my stomach. Most people could be found with either a glow stick or bucket of booze in their hands. Aine, Nicole headed home around 3 am, unable to hang until the party ended at 7:30 AM!

Attending a “moon party” is a must do for anyone visiting Thailand, whether you make it to the Black, 1/2, or Full Moon Party!
